South and North Laguna are two natural lagoons located just west of the most western point (Johnson Point) of Tiran Island. The lagoons themselves are very shallow. The south lagoon offers an underwater plateau just off the small passage, which extends down to about 25 metres before the drop off. The plateau is full of hard corals and passing large fish can often been seen in the deep blue (so keep an eye out to the deep).
Much more interesting to dive is the lagoon itself, especially during a night dive. The boat will usually tie-up in the lagoon and the three large ergs in the middle, with a maximum depth of 12 metres, make it a perfect night-dive. The ergs offer interesting areas to explore with your torches. A great thing to observe here are the lion fish hunting at night, so be ready to switch off your light if they come too close to you and your light.
